Danville Station Supporters Close In On Fundraising Goal

Danville Station

It has taken longer than expected to raise the money needed for a new museum in Des Moines county. But the fundraising effort is picking up steam.
Danville Stationwill be a combination library, tourist information center, and museum featuring a permanent Anne Frank exhibit.

Even if we don't get the grant we are going to keep plugging away here...

Committee member Janet Hesler says supporters are just a few thousand dollars short of their goal of $428,000.  She says once they reach the mark, they will be eligible to apply for a Vision Iowagrant that would double their money.

The project is expected to cost $900,000 total.

“You know, it took a long time for people to realize we are truly committed to this project,” Hesler says. "Even if we don’t get the grant we are going to keep plugging away here and continue to raise the funds to build this building.”

Hesler says it could take up to three months to hear if they will receive the grant. If the money comes through, construction of Danville Station will start this fall.
