Downtown Burlington Building Honors Former Resident

Heritage Trust

A nonprofit group in Burlington is promoting building restoration and preservation and has dedicated a mural to a former board member.

The Heritage Trust oversees the Preservation station, a salvage and resale shop for old house materials.

Members of the group thought it would be a good idea to paint a mural on the fully-exposed wall that faces Main Street.

Secretary Steve Frevert says the mural was designed by a former board member Bob Middaugh, who passed away a few years ago.

"He was a great member of the Heritage Trust, I was on the Board of Directors with him. He actually kind of did the paint scheme for the front of the building, and Bob being an artist thought maybe he could come up with something," Frevert says.

The idea for the mural was to reflect what the station sells.

After several designs, the final result is what appears to be a page ripped out of an old catalog.

The building is located at 213 Valley Street.
