Watercolors Coming to the Tri States

A rare opportunity can be experienced for the next month at two of the region's art galleries.

"The work is amazing," said Culver-Stockton College Art Instructor Debra Myers when talking about the upcoming Watercolors NOW exhibit.

The exhibit will be housed on the campuses of C-SC in Canton, Missouri and Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois.

The exhibitors are members of the Watercolor USA Honor Society,  an organization founded in 1985.

Its members have either won awards in or served as a juror for Watercolor USA, which is an annual, competitive exhibition sponsored by the Springfield (Missouri) Museum of Art.

Myers, who will have a piece on display in Quincy, said the exhibit creates a unique teaching opportunity.

“It is going to be great for my students to see," Myers said.  "There’s all different types of styles and techniques and subject matter.”

An opening reception for the C-SC exhibit is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 28.  A similar event is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 31 at Quincy University.

Myers said this might be the first national art exhibit hosted by C-SC.
