Knox College Alumni Hall Re-Opens

T.J. Carson

Knox College is giving new life to an old building on campus.

As part of its homecoming celebration, the college re-opened the 125-year-old Alumni Hall with a ribbon cutting ceremony after a year-long renovation project.

The building will now house the Admissions Office, Alumni Relations, and the Bastian Family Career Center.

Knox President Teresa Amott said the building now represents the college’s commitment to the future.

“Commitments to sustainability, the commitments to advanced technology, the commitment to global education, the commitment to career preparation and internships, and the commitment to service engagement,” she said.

Amott also said Alumni Hall would serve as a ‘gateway’ to future students and visitors to the campus.

That sentiment was echoed by Student Senate President Hiba Ahmed.

“The opening of Alumni Hall connects Knox College to Galesburg by fostering this sense of connectivity, rather than isolation with the college and the rest of the community,” Ahmed said.

Around 700 people contributed money to help pay for the renovation, which cost $12.5 million.
