Burlington Shooting Investigated as Homicide

The Burlington Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened Wednesday night as a homicide.
Lt. Jeff Klein said Virgue Orr, 35, was shot multiple times in the upper torso at a home in the 600 block of S. Central Avenue. Klein said officers were dispatched at 8:27 p.m. and Orr was pronounced dead at Great River Medical Center at 9:10 p.m.

The department has only released a few details about the shooting. Klein said investigators have determined -- based on witness accounts -- that this was not a random incident and that "the victim was acquainted with his assailant."

The department is working with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
