Warren County YMCA Debuts Wellness Center

T.J. Carson
Stair machines, treadmills, stationary bikes are some of the new exercise equipment featured in the new Wellness Center at the Warren County YMCA.

There's a new location in Warren County for those still committed to getting in shape as part of their New Year's resolution.

The Warren County YMCA in Monmouth opened its Wellness Center this week.

The center is a 4,000 square foot addition to the current YMCA facility on West Harlem Street.

"We knew we need to have some more space. We had a good problem -- we had a lot of members and we wanted to accommodate them better. So we needed a larger space for all of our wellness equipment," said Sam Brooks, CEO of the Warren County YMCA.

Brooks said the construction of the addition took just a few months to complete. The center is also the first 24-hour gym in Warren County.

"We have a lot of shift workers in Monmouth and Warren County. And so this way we can meet the needs of even more people," Brooks said.

Brooks said the addition cost around $600,000. The new equipment for it, which includes free weights and cardiovascular machines, cost another $60,000. He said the money was raised from a group of donors in the community.
