The dog park can be found off Second Street between Bank and Exchange Streets.

Dog owners in the tri-states area can take their dogs to a new park in Keokuk.

It is located on Second Street, between Bank and Exchange streets.

Keokuk City Administrator Cole O’Donnell said the park covers almost one acre that is divided into two fenced-in areas. One area is for large dogs and the other is for smaller dogs.

“This is a good way to get people with their pets out to an area where they can really let their pets exercise,” O’Donnell said.

O’Donnell also said many residents in town have been asking for a space where their dogs can play.

“We have had people in town who wanted a place where they could take their dog off the leash so they can run,” O’Donnell said. “Yards around here, especially in the older sections of town are not necessarily real big, so you’ve got to take them somewhere where they can get some real good exercise.”

Dogs visiting the park must wear collars with current vaccination tags and licenses. Dog owners are required to pick up and dispose of their dog’s waste.

The dog park is open daily from dawn to dusk.
