Court news from Tri States Public Radio.

Portia Garrison, 28, is charged with first degree murder. She has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail on $1 million bond.

Prosecutors say she stabbed her husband, Ricky Haymer, 27, in the chest with a knife during a domestic altercation.

Macomb police were called to the home at 1680 Wheeler Circle at 5:44 a.m. on February 7. Haymer was pronounced dead at McDonough District Hospital about an hour later.

Two children who were in the home at the time of the stabbing were taken into protective custody.
