A Macomb High School student who was critically injured over the weekend has passed away.
Landon Cromer, 14, was a freshman who played football for the school.
Police said Cromer fell from a moving vehicle and hit his head on the pavement.
He was air-lifted to a hospital in the region.
“I know you will join me in extending our heartfelt sympathy to the Cromer family in this difficult time. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns that you have,” Superintendent Patrick Twomey wrote in an email sent to the school district community.
Twomey also said grief counselors are available for students at the high school.
A visitation is planned for 3:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at The Crossing, 1600 W. Jackson St. in Macomb. A Celebration is Planned at the same location for 9 a.m. Saturday.
Family and friends are asked to wear orange black in Cromer's honor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Landon Cromer Memorial Fund.
