Keokuk Aquatics Center To Open June 6.

Keokuk, IA – Public Works Director Gerald Moughler says sod will be laid and several sidewalks will be built before June 6. He says the parking lot will also be cleaned and re-surfaced during that time.

5th Ward Alderman Justin Tuck served on the design committee. He is confident everything will be done in time.

Tuck says no one has even been in the pool yet and he is excited about the impact the new aquatics center will have on Keokuk. "After seeing the water being put in the pool this week," he says, "and knowing where we have been since the beginning, it is very satisfying to bring this to the community."

There will be an open house at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 6th. Tours will be available and season passes will be on sale at that time.

The new Keokuk Aquatics Center will open at noon, after a special ceremony featuring past and present city council members and aquatics center commissioners.

A fund-raising contest has been underway to determine who will be the first person to enter the water via the double decker slide. Tuck says Father Paul Connelly of Keokuk Catholic Schools is currently leading the way.
