The Mount Sterling Farmers Market began in 2017 as a grassroots effort led by community members with the goal of promoting local food access, small businesses, and community gathering, laying the foundation for the market we know today.

The region's premier adult vocal ensemble, the Bel Canto Chorale, will open their 2026-2027 season with a Fall Concert at 2:00 on Sunday, October 25th at First United Methodist Church in downtown Burlington.
The varied program includes traditional sacred choral works; selections by Strauss, Puccini, and Bizet; a medley from a Broadway show celebrating its 70th anniversary, music from a modern motion picture soundtrack, and more! The concert features special guests Ruth Francis on cello and Dr. Jason Edwards on oboe, as well as vocal soloists and opportunities to hear the grand piano and pipe organ. The Bel Canto Chamber Singers will also perform some fabulous late Renaissance madrigals by the great English composer Thomas Weelkes.
The Bel Canto Chorale consists of nearly 50 select singers and has been dedicated to the development of the performance skills of our members and the enjoyment and education of our audiences for 58 years. The ensemble regularly performs a variety of high quality a cappella and accompanied works that span five centuries of great choral repertoire and has premiered numerous new compositions. The Chorale has been featured on Iowa Public Television, recently performed at Carnegie Hall with The King’s Singers, and collaborates with other regional arts organizations throughout the year.
