Join Rebecca Quick for a Kinusaiga Sunflower and Harvest Themed Art Class 12-2pm, Saturday, September 26 at Edwards River Public Library in Aledo. This class is intended for adults. Come out to Little Creek Alpacas on Sat., Sept. 26th & Sun., Sept. 27th from 1 pm-5 pm for our National Alpaca Farm Days celebration! Experience 22 alpacas roaming in a free-range setting that you can hand-feed, a 2-acre pond you can fish in, a small white sand beach filled with toys for the kids, and more!

The 19th Hole will be joining us this year with all their tasty menu items and delicious drinks, including the best lemon shake-ups around! Hickory Ridge Homestead will have Fluff the Angora rabbit (weather permitted), and will also be doing spinning demonstrations, so you can see how our alpaca fiber is spun into yarn! Quesal Puppet Troupe will be performing a special puppet show at 2 pm. The Toddy Pop Company will be joining us with balloon twisting & entertainment to make the day extra fun. Paint The Sky Blue will have a paint station, where you can paint different wooden items (frogs, butterflies, etc.) for $8, which would make a great handmade gift for a loved one. DJ Megan will be providing our beach party tunes, and there will be several other artisans to shop with too - stay tuned for the full list of vendors!

Cups of grain to hand feed the alpacas with will be available for $5/cup, and we'll have all of our alpaca products for sale in the red shelter. Fishing is allowed; our pond is stocked with mostly bass, but there are a few catfish in there somewhere. Bring your own fishing pole; we don't have any available. The beach has lots of toys for the kids to play with; this is a family-friendly environment. There is no swimming in the pond because I can't afford a lifeguard, but you can still get your feet wet and get water for your sandcastles. We do recommend dressing the kids in swim attire and/or bringing extra clothes and a towel, so they can get wet and have fun in the sand. We've added an additional play area away from the pond, near the food and vendor area.

No pets, no smoking, and no chasing the alpacas. Please be kind and respectful to others. Disinfectant hand wipes & hand sanitizer are available; there is no hand sink. We have a sprinkler and a baby pool filled with water for rinsing off. There is a handicap accessible port-a-potty.

The annual survivorship celebration will be Saturday, Sept. 26, at The Legacy Theater in Carthage.
While the location has moved off the courthouse square, the event has the same cause and goals – to fight cancer and help those in Hancock County who are in a battle with cancer. The public is urged to attend and share in the celebration.

Events begin at 4 p.m. with food, drinks, popcorn, and snacks available outside the theater. Lights of Hope and tickets for the half-a-hog raffle will continue to be sold from 4 to 6 p.m. Survivor check-in begins in the lobby at 5 p.m., and the celebration will be in the theater auditorium from 6 to 8:15 p.m.

Survivors should register in advance if possible by filling out a form found on the HCFC website, by calling Joy Swearingen at 217-357-4989, or by coming on the night of the tribute. Those survivors whose registration form is received by Aug. 20 can request the annual free HCFC survivor shirt.
Event shirts, which help support HCFC, are available for anyone to order online at hancockcountyfightscancer.org. These orders must also be received by Aug. 20 so that shirts can be ordered.

The Paddle Wheel Lounge invites you to join the 17th Annual Special Olympics Fundraiser on Saturday September 26.

This event is to raise money for kids in our community to be able to attend the Special Olympics.

Washington Park will light up this September as Dancer Love Foundation brings Glow & Row 2026 back to downtown Quincy on Saturday, September 26, from 6:30–10:30 p.m.
New this year, Glow & Row is adding a bike division, creating another way for teams to take part in the challenge. The new division will accommodate approximately 12–15 teams, with registration available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participants can gather a team or register individually. Those who register by September 1 will be guaranteed an event T-shirt. Teams can continue to be added after the T-shirt deadline, with registration remaining open through September 25, the day before Glow & Row.
